Pourchaire: “I feel ready for F2”

Theo Pourchaire doesn't want to waste time. The 17-year-old Frenchman won second place in the championship in Art Grand Prix F3 in his first year, coming within three points of the title. If the disappointment was great not to obtain the crown, he believes that he does not need another year.

“My objective is clearly to go Formula 2 » he explains to AUTOhebdo, in this week's magazine.  “I don't think I have much left to learn in F3, and I would have more to lose than to gain by going back. I feel ready for F2. »

Théo Pourchaire has already received several proposals. “On paper, I would really like to stay at ART. It's an extremely solid team and above all, people trusted me at a time when that was not the case for other teams. So for that alone, I think they deserve to have the advantage over the other teams. »

Art Grand Prix hesitated to recruit him at the start of the season because of his age, but took the risk. Discussions between the two parties are already very advanced. “ I would really like to be able to do the end of season tests in Bahrain,” completes Theo. “ And who knows? Why not do a race at the end of the season, if the opportunity presents itself. The goal is to gain as much experience as possible with this car. »

The Frenchman would appreciate finding himself with a high-level and now experienced driver in the person of Christian Lundgaard: “That would definitely be a big help. I might be behind him at the start, due to lack of experience, but it will be up to me to get into the swing of things quickly. »

In F3 he took three races before winning.
