Sims wins, Bianchi capitalizes

Christian Vietoris is getting used to the Sunday podiums. During the six rounds of the championship F3 Euro Series, the German has been on the podium five times, including three times on the top step. Eighth Saturday and therefore on pole this Sunday, Vietoris did not manage to glean a fourth Sunday success. It was Alexander Sims, slender at the start, who stole the show. The rookie, author of a pole this season, had to settle for second place behind the inevitable Bianchi. This time, he was able to break away to cross the finish line alone, after keeping Vietoris at bay during the first half of the race.

Third, Mika Mäki saves the honor of Signature, who is no longer as dashing as at the start of the season. The Finn, quickly left behind by the two leading men, had to contain his compatriot Valtteri Bottas. Somewhat annoyed at being constantly dominated by his teammate at ART Grand Prix, Jules Bianchi, Bottas resisted the Frenchman, managing to distance him by two seconds at the finish. The two points for fifth place are, however, welcome for Jules Bianchi, who consolidates his lead in the championship at the end of this weekend.

Starting eighth, Bianchi managed, in the first laps, to get the better of Sam Bird and Esteban Gutierrez, the Mexican placing the third ART Grand Prix car in the points. He could also have taken fifth place from the Frenchman, having attacked him in the last corner. Bianchi and Gutierrez crossed the finish line side by side, with the F3 leader winning by a whisker. After the two races at the Nürburgring, the thirteen points for the Niçois confirm his status as favorite for the final victory. Second at 25 points, Christian Vietoris continues to hope but if Bianchi continues to string together good results, his coronation could come sooner than expected.
