Joan Mir observed a long recovery process, which included physiotherapy and rest. He attempted to make a comeback at the Aragon GP, but the pain did not allow him to ride safely and he had to retire from the next three races. On Wednesday, October 5, he had an electromyography to check the condition of the nerves and muscles around his damaged right ankle.
These latest tests have shown encouraging signs of recovery, and he will therefore attempt to race in Australia. “It seems that everything is improving, and I was very happy with the latest news from the doctors following my tests,” says Mir. The injury seems to be healing well and the recovery work I have done has paid off. I'm still not 100%, but I feel like it's time to come back, because the situation is much better than in previous weeks. I want to spend these last three races of the season with my team, so hopefully I will feel good on the bike and be able to ride well. »
Mir will, however, have to obtain the green light from the doctors at the Phillip Island circuit. In Japan, Takuya Tsuda took over as interim while in Thailand, Danilo Petrucci was called up at short notice even though he had just concluded his season in MotoAmerica.
