In the absence of the main stars of this category such as Andreas Mikkelsen and Nikolay Gryazin, both drivers being entered in WRC2 at Monza, it was Alexey Lukyanuk who dictated his law throughout the weekend. The Russian took the lead in the standings from the first special, and a 10-second penalty in SS2 only delayed the final outcome of this edition. In total, the driver of a Citroën C3 Rally2 won 16 out of 17 special stages! Only ninth escaped him, won by Mikolaj Marczyk.

“I am super happy and excited by our performance, we were able to control and enjoy all the stages, said Alexey Lukynanuk. Thank you to all our supporters throughout the year and to the team for the superb car.” The Russian wins his third edition of the Rally of the Canary Islands in his career, after that of 2017 and 2018.

In the general classification, the Russian is ahead of Efrén Llarena and Mikolaj Marczyk by more than 50 seconds! Thanks to this second place, the Spanish driver becomes vice-world champion, behind Andreas Mikkelsen. He is ahead of his Polish opponent of the day, to whom this title belonged to him before this final round of the season in ERC

The only Frenchman to appear in the TOP 10 before Saturday, Yoann Bonato (Citroën C3 Rally2) was forced to retire during SS10 after making a mistake. A real disappointment for the Frenchman who finished in 6th place this Friday evening.
