Based in Veszprém to the west of Budapest, the first round of the European Championship opened this afternoon with shakedown and qualification. The latter was of particular importance, as it allowed the crews to choose their position on the route for the first stage. On earth, this is a primordial parameter.

At the wheel of his Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, Mikolaj Marczyk was the fastest. Always fast in these types of conditions, the 28-year-old Pole left behind a surprising Simone Tempestini (Fabia RS) and the Frenchman Mathieu Franceschi (Fabia RS).

After the announcement of Mads Ostberg's withdrawal (hospitalized), the other favorites did not really shine during this exercise. For the first appearance of a Toyota Yaris Rally2 ERC, Mikko Heikkilä took 4e place. Martin Sesks is only 8e and Hayden Paddon 11e. For the latter, the hardest part perhaps begins, because they would find themselves sweeping the road. After a short superspecial this evening with a name that appears to be a challenge to pronounce (Kiralyszentistvan 2,05 km), the competitors will have to take a loop of 3 special stages twice for a total of 101 timed km.
