Alexey Lukyanuk sets the pace in Italy

We didn't have to wait long to see Alexey Lukyanuk put his stamp on the Rally di Roma Capitale, the first round of the European Rally Championship ERC 2020.

On the transalpine asphalt, the driver of the Citroën C3 R5 signed the three scratches on the program this Saturday morning, to build an initial lead of almost 10 seconds over his closest pursuer Giandomenico Basso (Volkswagen Polo GTI R5).

The two men have already made a gap on the competition since Simone Tempestini (Skoda Fabia R5), third overall after three SS, is almost 32″ behind.

The top 5 is completed by Fabian Kreim (Volkswagen Polo GTI R5) and Oliver Solberg (Volkswagen Polo GTI R5) who had a mishap this morning, losing his glasses before SS2. Enough to somewhat disturb the son of the world champion WRC 2003.

The morning was marked by the accidents of Andrea Crugnola (Citroën C3 R5), less than 3 km after the start of SS1, andAdrien fourmaux (Ford Fiesta R5 MKII), rolled over in SS2. Two incidents which delayed the progress of the event, and which forced the organizers to postpone the afternoon loop by two hours, which will start at 17:26 p.m.
