Close duel between Hänninen and Mikkelsen

The second stage of Rally of the Azores was not a cakewalk for the drivers, who often complained about the lack of visibility in the special stages due to the weather conditions.

Juho Hänninen (Skoda) retains the lead of the event with a 1??3 lead over Andreas Mikkelsen (Skoda) before the final day of the rally. “It was a really fantastic afternoon, we and the team did a superb job”, comments the Norwegian.

Behind, the gap is already more significant, but the battle for the places of honor still remains hotly contested. Bruno Magalhaes (Peugeot ) occupies third place, 4?9 ahead of Jan Kopecky (Skoda).

Bryan Bouffier (Peugeot) occupies fifth place after the one-minute penalty imposed on Patrik Sandell (Skoda), who slips to seventh position, eight seconds behind Ricardo Moura (Mitsubishi). The Frenchman, however, made a bad operation since he will still have to open the road tomorrow. “What can we do about it? That’s how it is, we will be the first on the road tomorrow”, regrets the Peugeot driver.

The final stage of the Azores Rally will be made up of five special stages which will offer a total of 68 timed kilometers.
