ERC – Albert von Thurn und Taxis bounces back in rallying

Albert von Thurn und Taxis is looking to gain new impetus in his sporting career. After having evolved in GT, the German whose family is at the origin of the postal system in Europe will commit full-time to ERC at the wheel of a Skoda Fabia R5 prepared by Wevers Sports and will remain co-driven by Bjorn Degandt.

“My first images of rally dates back to the days of Group B, remembered Albert von Thurn und Taxis, 2010 ADAC GT Masters champion. Since then, I have always dreamed of rallying but the opportunities led me to the circuit. I was very happy with it and stayed there for a few years, but decided to move on to something more challenging in motorsport. »

“I have very little experience, added the German. It's a bit crazy for me to compete in the REC with so little experience. I did my first rallies with Bjorn last year. It was just a few national events that allowed me to know if I needed to go further. I plan to progress higher in a few years and we considered it useful to already acquire experience at international level, even if to do this we must remain very humble in terms of results and not fear being put on trial. withdrawal. »

The 2017 ERC season begins with the Azores Rally on March 30 and April 1.
