Alexey Lukyanuk was hospitalized following an accident which occurred during a test session organized this Wednesday, May 17 in the Pskov region in Russia. The title contender in ERC, winner of the last edition of the Canary Islands Rally, was transported by helicopter to St Petersburg hospital, but his life is not believed to be in danger.
The accident occurred between two cars during the session. Two other people were injured. Alexey Ljaduhin, who was co-driving one of the two cars, died. Alexey Arnautov, Alexey Lukyanuk's regular co-driver, was not involved.
Alexey Lukyanuk occupies second place in the Championship, 17 points behind leader Bruno Magalhaes before the next round of the Rally of the Acropolis scheduled for June 2 to 4.
