Bryan Bouffier takes his first victory of the seasonERC by winning the Tour de Corse after resisting pressure from Jan Kopecky. The pilot Peugeot took the lead Rally of the 10 Turns following the retirement of Robert Kubica and the puncture of Craig Breen. But the Frenchman had a lot to do to hold off Jan Kopecky who ultimately had to settle for second place after encountering mechanical problems in the last special. The French driver now joins the list of winners of the Monte-Carlo Rally (victory in the IRC in 2011) and the Tour de Corse. “Joining this list is fantastic”, commented the winner at a press conference. “I am happy with this victory, but winning on French soil means a lot and it is a great achievement. I am not someone who looks to the past and it is difficult to compare this success with other victories and other Championships, but this success is special given the list of entrants. The group was very strong and that made this weekend really very special. »
The Frenchman was able to take revenge on Jan Kopecky who won the Jännerrallye by only half a second ahead of the Peugeot driver. But Bryan Bouffier is not only focusing on the inaugural event of the 2013 Championship. “We obviously thought about it and we talked about it a lot among ourselves, but you can't compare these two events because they are completely different. But I would like to thank everyone who participated. I'm very happy to have beaten everyone. Being in front of Jan was satisfying, but not only that. The level of competition in the ERC was very high. The last stage is always difficult because you listen to all the noises of the car, which perhaps we didn't do before. But we finally managed to reach the finish line while maintaining the advantage. »
