ERC – Craig Breen to regain points

The Irish Pilot's Summer Craig Breen is not easy. Injured his back during a violent landing from a jump in Finland at the end of July, he had not been authorized by the medical team and the officials of the Rally of Germany to take the start of the Over-the-Rhine event. Finally restored for the resumption of the European Rally Championship ERC at Barum in the Czech Republic at the end of August, Breen was unable to defend his chances following an accident on SS4.

With the absence of Finnish Esapekka Lappi (Skoda Fabia S2000) in Cyprus next weekend, Breen has a golden opportunity to regain points from the championship leader, who currently has a 19-point lead over German Sepp Wiegand and 53 on the pilot of the Peugeot 208 T16 R5. A maximum of 39 units are at stake on the Nicosia side, before the championship ends with the Rallye du Valais (October 23-25) and the Tour de Corse (November 6-8).

The Cyprus Rally will begin on Thursday with the qualifying stage before heading towards the first stages of an event contested on roads mixing asphalt and dirt. Nearly 65% of the race will be run on the latter surface.
