ERC – Freddy Loix takes his 11th victory
Freddy Loix (Skoda Fabia R5) improved his record by taking his 11th victory at the Rally of Ypres (Belgium), his fourth in a row, winning with almost a minute ahead of Kris Princen (Peugeot 208 T16 R5), while Bernd Schneider (Ford Fiesta R5) completes the 100% Belgian podium.
However, victory was difficult to achieve for Freddy Loix against the DS 3 R5s of Bryan Bouffier and Stéphane Lefebvre. The two French drivers both retired due to mechanical problems. Betrayed by his gearbox, Lefebvre quickly caught up with the leader of the event before having to dismount.
Hermen Kobus (Fabia R5) finished seven seconds off the podium, five seconds ahead of Vincent Verschueren (Fabia R5) who lost his place on the podium on the last course after making a mistake. Pieter Tsjoen (Ford Fiesta R5) takes sixth place ahead of Jaromir Tarabus (Fabia R5).
