Nikolay Gryazin (Skoda) takes the lead on the evening of the first stage of the Rally of Latvia, final of the 2017 season ofERC. The local driver has more than 18 seconds ahead of his compatriot Kalle Rovanperä (Ford) who occupies a good position given the problems encountered. The young Latvian star was slowed down by handbrake problems and lost time by briefly leaving the road.
Kajetan Kajetanowicz (Ford) occupies third place almost a minute from the lead of the race, but the Pole is already assured of the title before the end of the event following the retirement of his rival Bruno Magalhaes (Skoda) .
The Portuguese was in eighth place before being trapped in the very rainy conditions of the super special. After the withdrawal of Alexey Lukyanuk (Ford) on the same route when the Russian had already lost several minutes due to mechanical problems, the organizers decided to cancel both passages of the super special.
