ERC – Jan Kopecky holds on in the Azores, Robert Kubica rolls over

Just like the day before, the second stage of rally of the Azores counting forERC was amputated of a special. The 12th and last of the day was canceled, once again, due to weather conditions. In addition to the torrential rain, very persistent fog disrupted the event, to the point that the organizers decided to shorten the whole event as a safety measure.

At the end of the second stage, Jan Kopecky held on. The Czech on his Skoda Fabia S2000 took the lead after taking advantage Robert Kubica's setbacks. Dominant at the start of this rally, the Pole first suffered a puncture during the 7th special before losing almost a minute during the next, due to rain, fog and mud. A mud that would trap the former pilot of Formula 1 during the 11th and final special of the day. Starting in a roll, he lost a lot, almost 4 minutes. “We understeered in a corner and rolled. There is a problem with the left front suspension,” explained Robert Kubica, who wants to try to continue this Sunday.

Behind Jan Kopecky, Craig Breen holds on. The driver of the 207 S2000 is 13??1 behind and still has every chance. Ancian Jérémi is the first Frenchman, 6th, 2:01 behind the leader.
