ERC – Kubica snatches victory from Pech at Jännerrallye

The Jännerrallye definitely offers sumptuous battles for victory. After Jan Kopecky's success last year by half a second ahead of Bryan Bouffier, it was Robert Kubica (Fiesta RRC) and Vaclav Pech (Mini JCW S2000) who offered a fantastic duel for victory. While the Czech seemed to manage his lead following a ten-second penalty inflicted this morning on the Pole for early departure, the former driver of F1 made the right choice by opting for studded tires at the front and snow tires at the rear before setting off on the last 25km course. The previous leader lost more than half a minute in the last special after trying the gamble on slick tires and finally failed 20 seconds behind the winner.

Raimund Baumschlager completes the podium in his Skoda Fabia S2000 without having been put under pressure today. Beppo Harrach won the Production category in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX R4 which finished in a very good fourth place, while the Fabia S2000 of Jaromar Tarabus completed the top five. Robert Consani achieved his goal of finishing in the top ten since his Peugeot 207 S2000 takes ninth place. Michael Böhm wins in two-wheel drive on his Suzuki Swift 1600.
