ERC – Italy heading for a comeback in 2017

For the first time since 2013, the legendary Rally With Sanremo on the calendar, the European Rally Championship should return to the Italian peninsula next year. The provisional calendar recently unveiled by the organizers of the continental championship includes the addition of the Rally of Rome Capital (September 15-17), contested on asphalt, and a traditional event of the Italian Rally Championship.

Si the absence of Latvia was recorded, eight rounds are already on track for 2017, with the presence of the Acropolis (subject to an agreement with the promoter), Cyprus, and even Barum. The Ypres Rally in Belgium, however, is not registered for the moment.

The season is expected to open in the Azores in early March, and two races, one in Southern Europe on gravel, and the other in Central Europe on asphalt, are still likely to be added to the calendar, which will be confirmed on November 30 by the World Motor Sport Council in Vienna, Austria.

March 2-4: Azores Airlines Rally (dirt)
March 31-April 2: To be confirmed (land, Southern Europe)
May 4-6: Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés (asphalt)
June 2-4: Acropolis Rally (ground)
June 16-18: Cyprus Rally (asphalt and dirt)
August 3-5: Rally Rzeszow (asphalt)
August 25-27: Barum Czech Rally Zlín (asphalt)
September 15-17: Rally di Roma Capitale (asphalt)
October 6-8: Rally Liepāja (dirt)
November 3-5: To be confirmed (asphalt, Central Europe)
