ERC – Lukyanuk solid leader in Cyprus

Already leading a lead of almost half a minute at the end of the first night specials contested last night, Alexey Lukyanuk hit the nail on the head this Saturday in Cyprus. The driver of the Ford Fiesta R5 largely consolidated his lead today by winning six of the eight special stages on the programme.

Now leader with a lead of more than 1'35", the Russian was relieved of Nikolay Gryazin (Skoda Fabia R5), who went off the road in the sixth special, the last sector before the mid-day break.

It is now Marijan Griebel (Skoda Fabia R5) who is in second place with a 41″6 margin over Ralfs Sirmacis (Skoda Fabia R5), third in the general classification. Hungarian David Botka places his Citroën DS3 R5 in fourth position, 4'27″7 behind Lukyanuk. The top 5 is completed by the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX of Cypriot Christos Demosthenous.

Four ES will be contested tomorrow to conclude the 2016 European Rally Championship season. The Golden Stage, which will bring together the results of the final two timed sectors, will offer a financial reward to its winner.
