ERC – Mads Ostberg explains the reasons for his retirement in Poland

In the lead yesterday at the end of SS2 Rally Rzeszow in ERC, Mads ostberg had lost contact with the first places following problems with the power steering. This morning in SS6, the Norwegian suffered a puncture after contact with a rock in a rope, dropping more than 2'50", and finally decided to retire after the following special.

The former Citroën driver gave more precise explanations on the reasons for his withdrawal from the Polish event on his Facebook page. « We had a significant impact on the left front wheel in SS6 this morning, after hitting a stone in a rope, admits Ostberg.

I wasn't happy with the management after that. Considering the power steering problem yesterday, which was not investigated in detail, We made a necessary decision with safety in mind, in consultation with the team, after SS7.

We have to think about safety in the car, but also safety for the spectators. It is not dangerous to drive without power steering, but the steering becomes extremely heavy. Watch the embedded video on YouTube, and you will understand. But if something happens in the wrong place and at high speed, it's dangerous. »
