Hirvonen: Fighting for victory

A distinguished guest at the start of a Monte-Carlo Rally which has deserted the WRC, Mikko Hirvonen debuts the new Ford Fiesta Super 2000. After a day full of twists and turns, the Finn took part in the prologue without taking the slightest risk.

Fraichement homologuée, la Ford Fiesta Super 2000 n?est pas passé loin d?un retour rapide au Royaume-Uni aujourd?hui. Réglé avant le départ, un « problème administratif » n?empêchera pourtant pas Mikko Hirvonen et Julien Maurin de défendre les couleurs de M-Sport entre Valence et Monaco.

Often cited among the favorites, Mikko Hirvonen recalls that the Fiesta is competing in its first official competition this week: “The car is brand new. We participate in this rally to position ourselves compared to the competition. I have already done numerous tests but the conditions were often very difficult. »

The 2008 and 2009 World vice-champion nevertheless believes in his chances of adding a prestigious victory to his record: “The course remains exceptional. You will have to be very careful and not make any mistakes. The Fiesta Super 2000 is competitive. I have no doubt about that. If everything goes well, we will have the opportunity to fight for victory. »
