IRC – Loix does not want to be favorite in Ypres

Freddy Loix is not competing in the IRC season but the Belgian has still retained his racing experience by competing in the French Championship this year. The pilot Peugeot will be back at the wheel of a 207 S2000 to compete in the Geko Ypres Rally held this week. “It was good to race against cars WRC in the French Championship with my 207 S2000 », commented the multiple winner of the Belgian round on the discipline's website. “I missed fighting with good drivers even if my fight against Bryan Bouffier in the Championship is very interesting. He owns the same car and knows the Peugeot very well and we have some great duels. »

Grieving by the death of Gareth Roberts last weekend at the Targa Florio, the Championship nevertheless continues on the Belgian's lands where the latter has often distinguished himself. However, the Peugeot driver refuses to take on the hat of favorite against the Skoda drivers. “Everyone considers me the favorite but the level is very tough in IRC and it will be my only event in the discipline this year. It is certain that my experience of rally will help me but it will be a big challenge against the Skodas. We have two days of testing, the second being today. The Peugeot drives well but we still have progress to make to make it more progressive and less nervous. The stages at Ypres can be very slippery and the car needs to be precise. I'm not worried about the weather because I've already won in the dry and the wet. »
