IRC – Pierre Campana returns to Sanremo

After finishing seventh in the Rally Monte-Carlo and a podium at the Tour de Corse, Pierre Campana hoped to complete his program for other events. Despite these good results, the French driver had to wait many months before being able to get back behind the wheel of the Peugeot 207 S2000 from Munaretto Sport with which he distinguished himself in the Rally of 10 Bends to compete in the Sanremo Rally. The penultimate event of the IRC Championship, the Italian asphalt event is not unknown to the Bastiais who has participated in it three times and even a victory in 000W in 2 (on Renault Clio R3C). To prepare for this particularly dense rally and get his bearings on the car with his co-driver Sabrina de Castelli, the Corsican will compete in the Citta di Bassano Rally as a prelude to the Sanremo.

“I am absolutely delighted to make my return to competition next weekend at Bassano and next month at Sanremo”, comments Pierre Campana who has dreamed of getting back on the podium since last May. “The Citta di Bassano will be very good preparation for returning to action with Sanremo, a test that I know well and that I really appreciate. It seems a long time ago when Sabrina and I were on the Peugeot 207 at the Tour de Corse before celebrating our podium and it's a feeling I hope to recreate at Bassano and Sanremo. I can't wait to get back behind the wheel of the 207 after our superb result. I thank all the participants who made this possible, whether Munaretto, Peugeot Sport or my sponsor Perin. We have a week until Citta di Bassano which will serve us to prepare for Sanremo, a test which is always very intense. I have very good memories of this rally where I won the 2WD category in 2009. It will be a good thing to be able to demonstrate my abilities and I hope to use it as a springboard to compete in other events this year . »
