Ford Fiesta Super 2000 opens in Scotland

Il s’agit pour nous d’un modèle très important car la fin du WRC is close while the Super 2000s are allowed to race in all national and international championships. »

Morally supported by Ford Motor Company which appreciates the principle of a sector allowing young drivers to climb to the top via the Fiesta R2 then the Fiesta S2000, the development of the Ford Fiesta was carried out in nine months under the leadership from Chistian Loriaux, the father of the Focus WRC: “The future WRC should use many elements designed for this car in terms of the chassis, much more efficient suspensions than on the WRC, transmissions. On the other hand, it will be necessary to review the entire front part in order to install a 1600 turbo instead of the two liters developed by Pipo. »

This is why all eyes will be on Scotland this weekend. Serving as a platform for Ford's future weapon planned for 2011, the Fiesta Super 2000 is of strategic importance. The little lap made in the right seat on a short but technical special traced in the Greystoke forest, near Cockermouth, allowed us to feel the high potential of this car which has already completed 1500 km of testing including several hundred on a base in Corbières.

But the real reference will be the times achieved this weekend by Matthew Wilson at the RAC Rally of Scotland, the last meeting of the IRC series, where the reigning champion, Kris Meeke will also be present on a Peugeot 207, Guy Wilks (Skoda Fabia) and Alister McRae (Proton Satria).
