Mikolaj Marczyk first leader of the Polish rally

The superspecial marking the opening of the 79e edition of this event was classically held in the gardens of the enormous Golebiewski hotel. As always, this time, which is close to one of the many lakes in the Masuria region, attracted many spectators despite a cool temperature and a threatening sky. Starting in reverse order of numbers, the rally experienced its first battles with first of all the beginnings of theERC Junior. At the wheel of his Fiesta Rally4, the Swede Mille Johansson won ahead of the Opel Corsa Rally4 of Max McRae which begins its program in Europe. The Italian Roberto Dapra (Peugeot 208) took 3e place and the three pilots completed this short run of 2,5 km grouped in 0'8. Moving up the category, the first ever match between the Ford Fiesta Rally3 and the Renault Clio Rally3 turned to the advantage of the American of Jon Armstrong, 2'3 faster than Paolo Soria.

At the head of the event, there were no surprises. Already winner of the shakedown and qualifying, Mikolaj Marczyk took the reins of the race in front of his home crowd. Hayden Paddon and Erik Cais took the other steps of the podium. Discovering Poland at the wheel of a Rally2, Mathieu Franceschi didn't take any risks and took 9e rank.

Seven special stages are scheduled during the rest of the first stage with 101,34 km timed and all the drivers have warned that the challenge will be difficult.
