Monte-Carlo 2011: what a field!

For the hundred years of Rally Monte-Carlo, the field of an IRC event has never been so tough. Stars of the rally, the circuit or former glories, famous names make up the list of entries for the first major rally of the 2011 season. If the best drivers of the WRC are not present, the quality of the set is up to the event.

Therefore, Peugeot will present itself with an armada ready to monopolize the first places. Bryan Bouffier, Stéphane Sarrazin, Petter Solberg, Thierry Neuville, Bruno Magalhaes and Guy Wilks will defend the colors of the Lion brand. In the clan opposite, Skoda is also preparing the response, with Juho Hänninen, Jan Kopecky, Nicolas Vouilloz, Freddy Loix and Andreas Mikkelsen.

But other famous names are also present on the starting line of the Monte-Carlo Rally, starting with François Delecour, winner of the event in 1994, Daniel Elena, co-driver of Sébastien Loeb and Monegasque, Toni Gardemeister, Alex Caffi, PG Andersson and Robert Kubica, pilot of F1 seeming more and more comfortable in rallying.

The 2011 Monte-Carlo Rally therefore offers a colorful field. With 39 Super 2000 cars, the debates should be balanced and, due to the high number of candidates for victory, this edition could go down in history.

The Automobile Club of Monaco, however, would like to point out that "only one hundred crews will take part in this edition", although 305 requests for participation have been sent. Among the crews selected, a small part is therefore on the waiting list. But, with such a list of entrants, the field can only be very dense.
