Monte-Carlo: Hirvonen with the Fiesta S2000

Malcolm Wilson, last month, showed his desire to see the new Ford Fiesta Super 2000 lined up at the start of the Rally Monte-Carlo, first round of the IRC 2010. From now on, the participation of the Fiesta S2000 is confirmed and the driver is known. It is none other than Mikko Hirvonen, vice-world rally champion, who will make its competitive debut on the roads of the Côte d'Azur.

Mikko Hirvonen was able to test the Ford Fiesta Super 2000 in the French Pyrenees, after the car served as an opener in the recent Rally of Scotland, the event which closed the 2009 IRC. The Fiesta S2000 is fantastic, visually and sonically, says Mikko Hirvonen. It?s great to be able to drive it here, to be part of a completely new car and I was surprised at how fast I was able to drive it. I was surprised by the good set-up of the car, by the chassis, which allowed me to be able to push it quickly »

Mikko Hirvonen will therefore have the opportunity to debut it in competition, for the first major Rally of the 2010 season, the famous Monte-Carlo Rally, which appears on the IRC calendar. “ I have already participated in the Monte-Carlo Rally five times, so I know the roads and conditions well. There are almost four months between the end of the 2009 season (in WRC) and the start of the 2010 season, it will therefore be ideal to regain my competitive spirit. » The Monte-Carlo Rally will take place from January 19 to 23, 2010 and will benefit from extensive media coverage.
