Thierry Neuville and his co-driver Nicolas Gilsoul will be back for the first time in four years at the Rally d’Ypres disputé du 22 au 24 juin en évoluant sur une Hyundai i20 R5. Le Belge disputera son épreuve nationale au volant d’un modèle disposant d’une livrée réalisée par un enfant de 8 ans qui a remporté un concours.
“It’s obviously exciting for us to return to Belgium in a car capable of winning the Ypres Rally, comments Thierry Neuville. We haven't had many opportunities to race here in recent seasons with the rounds of the WRC. It's a race that Nicolas and I have never won and we intend to do so this time. »
“This will be our first start with the i20 R5, but we will do a test session to learn a little more about the car, specifies Thierry Neuville. We should start strong to showcase the performance of the i20 R5 in front of a large audience. »
The Ypres Rally is no longer part of theERC this year, but Hyundai Motorsport will have a total of nearly 40 R5 rally cars entered in the Belgian event.
