Proton, ambition 2010

Proton, after a learning season in IRC, sees its objectives on the rise. This season, after his debut at Ypres, Guy Wilks was the main spearhead of the team supported by Malaysian manufacturer Proton. Having moved to Skoda in Scotland, the Briton could compete in the next IRC season at the wheel of a Fabia S2000. But it was with Alister McRae, in Scotland, who allowed Satria to glean its first podium this season.

However, there are three other drivers, Anton Alen, Matti Rantanen and François Duval, who tested the car Rally at the end of the season. Tests which allowed the young team to give direction to the 2010 season, during which Proton will run two cars.

« We had three great pilots, who allowed us to collect valuable feedback and comments, says Chris Mellors, team director. From our point of view, the most encouraging thing is that we covered the equivalent of a World Rally Championship distance with the car without having to work on it. »

As for the drivers, only one thing is certain. François Duval, who recently fractured two vertebrae, will not be able to take part in the first rounds of the season, having to observe a total rest period of eight weeks.
