Nicolas Vouilloz (Peugeot ) had to retire from the fourth special stage of the Barum Rally on Saturday. The Frenchman then occupied second place in the standings behind Jan Kopecky (Skoda). “ This time, however, the confidence in my driving was back, exclaims the Frenchman. I started my rally with caution. I was delighted with my position and, from the fourth stage, I decided to increase the pace. It went well at first, then I started to feel vibrations in the driveshaft.

They got so loud that I stopped to find out what was happening. I discovered that an engine mount bolt was broken. I started idling again, but the engine stopped. A fuel line had burst. The fuel spilled and the car started to burn. Fortunately, spectators arrived with buckets. They helped us put the fire under control, but the car suffered. »
