Even though he only completed three laps during last Saturday's Sprint Showdown at Lowe Motor Speedway (a non-championship event), Carl Long was suspended for twelve races in the Sprint Cup for running an engine equipped with a displacement greater than that required in the discipline.
Carl Long, the driver, and his wife Danielle Long, owner of the team, were suspended until August 18 and deprived of 200 points. Charles Swing, the crew chief, was fined $200 in addition to a twelve-race suspension and placed on probation until December 000.
