The owners of the Daytona International Speedway have decided to refurbish the surface of the legendary Florida circuit. Work will begin after the next race Nascar Sprint Cup Series at the Daytona Oval, which will take place in early July. This decision was taken after the last Daytona 500, in February, was disrupted by the appearance of a hole in the asphalt between turns 1 and 2. The work should be completed by the end of 2010.
