This is what we call a breathtaking finish for this first round of the 2nd season of Extreme E. Relegated to more than 3 seconds while he took the succession of Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky in the Rosberg x Racing Odyssey 21, Johan Kristoffersson stole victory from his opponents with an incredible maneuver in the final meters to take the lead.
Moved up to 2nd after getting rid of Cristina Gutiérrez, Sébastien's teammate Loeb at X44, the four-time world champion of Rallycross launched an attack on Laia Sanz, supported by Carlos Sainz at Sainz XE Team. Despite an SUV whose rear hood had come off, Johan Kristoffersson tried everything on the big descent leading to the last section of the route.

On the attack, the Swede dove inside the Spaniard who was unable to do anything against the action of her counterpart, thus settling for 2nd place. First to move to X44, Sébastien Loeb leaves Saudi Arabia with a new podium thanks to Cristina Gutiérrez's 3rd place in Neom.
Note that the final was suspended for a time after Tanner Foust's accident (McLaren). Although his vehicle suffered significant damage, the American escaped unscathed.
