The Rally Islas Canarias, 2nd round of the 2011 IRC, began this Friday afternoon. After the first loop of 3 special stages, a group of four, grouped in 2”5, broke away slightly. It is made up of three Skoda Fabia S2000s and one Peugeot 207 S2000. The Czech Kopecky (Skoda), winner in 2010, is in the lead with 4/10ths ahead of the Belgian Neuville (Peugeot), 1”8 on the Finnish Hänninen (Skoda) and 2”5 on the other Belgian Loix (Skoda). The fastest in SS 1 and 3, the Englishman Wilks (Peugeot) lost 10” in SS2. He is 5th, 10”4 behind the leader. Five stages still have to be contested in this first stage.
