While he seemed able to play for victory with his Peugeot 207 Super 2000, Jean-Sébastien Vigion was trapped in the last Alsatian special stage of the Rally Alsace-Vosges. Surprised by a flood of water after a storm, he hit and tore off the rear half of his car.

Arriving at the stop point, Limougeaud attempted to repair without success.

Patrick Henry (Peugeot 206WRC) remains in the lead with a 52??5 lead over Guillaume Canivenq (Peugeot 207 Super 2000). Marc Barbé (Peugeot 206WRC) takes third position ahead of Ludovic Gal (Abarth Grande Punto Super 2000) and Emmanuel Guigou (Renault Clio R3).

There is still one passage in the Epinal super-special to finish the first stage.
