Frenchman Jérémy Iglesias was crowned KZ world champion yesterday during the FIA finals Karting World Championship – KZ in Lonato in Italy.
On a track that remained dry despite a light rain falling on the route before the start, delayed for 10 minutes, the Frenchman was able to resist the attacks of the Dutch Marijn Kremers and Bas Lammers to win.
The event was also marked by the unacceptable behavior of driver Luca Corberi, who came to send the bumper of his kart on another competitor, Paolo Ippolito, after an incident at the start of the race.
Worse after the race since a fight broke out, visibly involving the two drivers as well as other people. The Automobile Club of Italy issued a statement strongly condemning these incidents.
“The Federation absolutely condemns what happened during and after the race and which saw two drivers, Paolo Ippolito and Luca Corberi, as protagonists. The Federation reserves any possible initiative against those who have become the protagonists of such a serious event to protect the image of this discipline and of all the young drivers who are its protagonists. »
