Lapierre: “Essential to assert yourself”

Nicolas lapierre left its mark on the latest edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This weekend, the Frenchman gets back behind the wheel of his Peugeot 908 HDi FAP Oreca during the third round of the Le Mans Series in Portimao. This weekend, he knows, victory is imperative.

“Achieving this success is important, it?s even essential to assert yourself, says the 26-year-old pilot. We know we're in this together. We must now reach the finish, and in the lead. We are chasing the result a little. We have to win, to reassure ourselves, to show everyone that we can do it, and to maintain a chance in the title race. The field is a little reduced, and we will be our main opponent. We drove at Portimao in a race in 2009, and a bit of testing during the winter, but with the Oreca 01. So we have a certain amount of information. It’s a beautiful place, with a night race and therefore a somewhat special atmosphere, always friendly.”
