Brian Vickers won the Carfax 400 at Michigan, in the Sprint Cup Series, while starting from pole position. However, he is the three-time champion of Nascar, Jimmie Johnson, who dominated most of the race, with 133 laps led. But Johnson ran out of fuel three laps from the finish. It was thus Brian Vickers who inherited first place and, therefore, the victory. The pilot Red Bull narrowly missed the double in Michigan, since Brad Keselowski won the Nationwide Series race ahead of Brian Vickers.
