Since his title of world champion of Formula 1 In 2016 and his surprise retirement, Nico Rosberg withdrew from the world of motorsport. At least as a driver, since he embarked on a career as an entrepreneur and investor in the field of sustainable development, notably through his team engaged in Extreme E, Rosberg X Racing.
At age 36, Rosberg had the opportunity to take his team's ODYSSEY 21 for a spin at the Nürburgring Offroad Park, near the team's base in Neustadt, Germany. Under the close supervision of team principal Kimmo Liimatainen, as well as RXR drivers Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky and Johan Kristoffersson, the German had the opportunity to familiarize himself with the ODYSSEY 21 and the one-kilometer track before taking his first laps in an off-road car.
“It was simply a phenomenal experience, rejoiced Nico Rosberg. I can't believe the power of this car. Offroad driving is so much fun. Even though I hadn't been behind the wheel for long, I was immediately in my element. The muscle memory came back instantly and I just had fun. The piloting in rally is an entirely different beast from circuit racing, and I have a newfound respect for Mikaela and Johan. »
The next meeting for RXR and its drivers will be double headers of the Island X Prize in Sardinia. Initially scheduled for May 7 and 8, this round was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.
