By recruiting the five-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans Emanuele Pirro, Drayson Racing shows its intention to reach a further level. The whimsical Italian is in any case delighted to make his return to endurance competition:
“It’s great for me to come back to LMP1. When I stopped running, I really underestimated my attachment to this sport. Although my role as Audi brand ambassador is rewarding and very enriching, I realized during the races last year how much I missed driving racing cars. The sensations that a prototype gives you are unique. I have the impression that my last laps at Laguna Seca in 2008 were yesterday, for what was to be my last race in sports prototypes. I was enjoying every meter I covered and crying into my helmet at the same time. »
