Petter Solberg (Volkswagen) set the best time in the first free practice sessions of the 2018 World RX season. The boss-driver of the PSRX Volkswagen Sweden set a time of 55''902 on a Catalan track where the conditions were particularly delicate due to the rain.

Andreas Bakkerud (Audi) was the closest despite being seven tenths behind. Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen) completed the top three by more than a second. Mattias Ekström (Audi) and Robin Larsson (Ford) complete the Top 5 of the session ahead of Timmy Hansen, first driver Peugeot . Sebastian Loeb (Peugeot) finished in 12th place ahead of the Renault Mégane RS RX by Guerlain Chicherit and Jérôme Grosset-Janin. Hervé Knapick (DS 3) ranked 15th, missing a good part of the session. Grégoire Demoustier (Peugeot) completed the ranking.

Note the great performance of René Münnich in Euro RX who set the best time in the category in his Seat Ibiza. The boss-pilot finished fifth in the general classification.
