The semi-finals of the Cape Town event in South Africa were very lively, but did not smile on Sébastien Loeb. Author of an excellent start in semi-final 2, the pilot of the Peugeot 208 WRX – Team Peugeot-Hansen seemed to be heading back into second position for a while, but fell victim to the general melee at the end of the first corner.

Victim of a puncture, Loeb will not be able to play his chance for qualification. Under the checkered flag, Timmy Hansen (Peugeot 208 WRX – Team Peugeot-Hansen) won ahead of Ken Block, despite a Ford Focus RS RX – Hoonigan Racing Division largely damaged on its front. Timo Scheider (Ford Fiesta – MJP Racing Team Austria) also enters the final.

With three new tires, Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen Polo GTi – PSRX VW Sweden) won the first semi-final after a strong finish. Kristoffersson, Mattias Ekström (Audi S1 – EKS RX) are waiting for the last moments to take the joker lap. The two drivers come out at the same level as Petter Solberg (Volkswagen Polo GTi – PSRX VW Sweden), who entered the joker lap in the first round.

After contact with the two Polos, Ekström was forced to cut the last chicane and finished second behind Kristoffersson but ahead of Petter Solberg. However, all three drivers are qualified for the final. Ekström has a four-point championship lead over Solberg in the fight for second place.
