New drama in the race for the World RX world title at Bikernieki in Latvia. Petter Solberg (Citroën DS3 – PSRX), already disqualified yesterday in Q2, lost big once again by hitting the wall in his race in Q3, while the Norwegian was firmly in the lead.

Only 14th time in Q3, the reigning world champion immediately declared that “the championship was over” in his opinion. His eighth time in Q4 changed nothing in terms of the top 12 necessary to qualify for the semi-final.

Before the final stages, Johan Kristoffersson (VW Team Sweden) was the best overall in the four qualifying rounds and was ahead of the Ford Focus RS RX – Hoonigan Racing of Andreas Bakkerud and the Peugeot 208 RX of Team Peugeot-Hansen of Timmy Hansen, who notably hit his teammate Sébastien Loeb in Q3. The Frenchman, however, reached the semi-final by finishing 5th in qualifying behind Mattias Ekström (Audi S1 – EKS RX).

The Swede has a golden opportunity to widen the gap a little further in the general classification on Solberg.
