The format of the Ligier European Series at the opening of the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Disputed at the opening of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2022, the Ligier European Series will be entitled to preferential treatment from June 8 to 11. The competition organized by the French brand will consist of two free practice sessions, as many qualifying sessions and also two races of 50 minutes each.
“We really wanted to offer competitors in the Ligier European Series a comfortable driving time on the great 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit, comments Frédéric Lequien, General Director of Le Mans Endurance Management and Organizer of the Ligier European Series. With a 13,6 km route, each driver had to have time to discover this circuit which is only open to modern sports prototypes and GTs once a year! It was also important to offer a running time equivalent to the other rounds of the season so that this meeting fits perfectly into the world of the Ligier European Series. All the elements have now come together to make the third season of the Ligier European Series an exceptional season. »
Le Mans Heat format – June 8 to 11, 2022
– 2 x 45 minutes of free practice
– 2 x 20 minutes of qualifications
– 2 x 50 minutes of running
* The format of the remaining rounds of the 2022 season is as follows: two 40-minute free practice sessions on Friday morning, two 15-minute qualifying sessions on Friday afternoon and two one-hour races (the first on Saturday morning and the second on Saturday afternoon).
** Subject to confirmation of the 24 Hours of Le Mans program.
