An update on invitations to the 24 Hours of Le Mans

The 2022 Asian Le Mans Series season ended this Sunday at the Yas Marina circuit (Abu Dhabi) with the victory of Josh Pierson and Paul di Resta for United Autosports. "Out of the championship" due to absence at the Dubai meeting the previous weekend, the Anglo-American team leaves the LM P2 title to Nielsen Racing, synonymous with an invitation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Before this edition of the ALMS, six teams had already obtained their ticket to Sarthe through European races:

• Team WRT: victory at the 24 2021 Hours of Le Mans in LM P2 (invitation to assert in LM P2);
• AF Corse: victory at the 24 2021 Hours of Le Mans in LM GTE Am (invitation to assert in LM GTE Am);
• Team WRT: champion team ELMS 2021 in LM P2 (invitation to compete in LM P2 category);
• United Autosports: 2021 ELMS vice-champion team in LM P2 (invitation to compete in the LM P2 category);
• DKR Engineering: 2021 ELMS champion team in LM P3 (invitation to compete in LM P2 category);
• Iron Lynx: 2021 ELMS champion team in LM GTE (invitation to compete in the LM GTE Am category);
• Spirit Of Race: 2021 ELMS vice-champion team in LM GTE (invitation to compete in LM GTE Am category);
• Iron Lynx: 2021 Michelin Le Mans Cup champion team (invitation to submit in the LM GTE Am category)

We must now add:

• Nielsen Racing: champion team at the 2022 Asian Le Mans Series in LM P2 (invitation to submit in LM P2)
• CD Sport: champion team at the Asian Le Mans Series in LM P3 (invitation to compete in LM P2)
• Inception Racing: champion team at the Asian Le Mans Series in GT (invitation to compete in LM GT)

And theIMSA ?

On the IMSA side, the Jim Trueman Award, rewarding the best Bronze driver competing in LM P2, was awarded to Ben Keating, and the Bob Akin Award, for the best Bonze in GTD, was awarded to Rob Ferriol. If both offer an invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, only Rob Ferriol should go, since Ben Keating is already signed to compete in the Le Mans season. WEC with TF Sport.
