Pascal Wehrlein (Mercedes) took pole on the drying track of the Lausitzring (Germany) with a time of 1'17"547. Qualifying was close as Mattias Ekström lost by half a tenth. The Audis of Jamie Green and Timo Scheider are on the second row in front of the Mercedes of Daniel Juncadella. Marco Wittmann, the championship leader, places the first BMW in seventh place behind Miguel Molina (Audi). Adrien Tambay (Audi) is only 18th on the grid.
