TCR Europe arrives at the 2023 Pau Grand Prix

The World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) chose Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) in 2022, but the competition has since given way to the TCR World Tour, whose 2023 calendar omits the Béarnaise city. Good news comes this Sunday March 19 for the attraction of the 2023 Pau Grand Prix, with the replacement of the TCR Europe round at Red Bull Ring (Austria) with a visit to Pau from May 12 to 14, 2023.

The information was confirmed by the promoter of TCR Europe, Paulo Ferreira, at TouringCarsTimes. “ Personally, I love this type of city racing, especially for touring cars. TCR racing is a spectacle that deserves to be seen by as wide an audience as possible and so we welcome the opportunity to bring the spectacle to the fans. Our drivers deserve this opportunity to race at such an iconic venue.”

Three rounds of TCR Europe will be part of the TCR World Tour in 2023 (Portimão, Spa and Hungaroring), but not the Pau Grand Prix. Regardless, the attendance at TCR Europe should be significant, as the starting grids easily exceeded twenty competitors in previous seasons. The organizers of the Pau Grand Prix even announce “nearly 30” entries!

The Pau Grand Prix, which will celebrate its 2023th edition in 80, is thus adorned with an international discipline, in addition to the Euroformula Open (which will officially award the title of winner of the Pau Grand Prix), the French Championship of Formula 4, the Twin'Cup, the Caterham Cup, the Era Championship, the Wolf Thunder and the Sprint Cup by Funyo.
