No Pau Grand Prix on the 2024 TCR Europe calendar

Present in 2023 on the TCR Europe program, the Grand Prix de Pau will be conspicuous by its absence in 2024. The program for the 2024 season, published by the promoter of the TCR, Paulo Ferreira, this Thursday, December 14, reports a reduction from seven to six rounds between the end of April and the end of September. No event in France is planned.

“We decided to reduce the schedule and compact them over five months for two main reasons,” he explains. The first is to reduce operating costs and the second is to allow our competitors to make occasional appearances in other TCR events, such as the TCR World Ranking Finals in Portimão or the FIA Motor Sport Games in Valencia. »

The TCR Europe was the only international grid during the 2023 Pau Grand Prix. The presence of the Béarnais meeting in 2024 has still not been announced by the municipality while practically all the national and international calendars have been ratified. “No decision has been made regarding thee 2024 Pau Grand Prix », soberly indicates the City at local newspaper La République des Pyrénées.

The series will start in Vallelunga (Italy) and then travel to Zolder (Belgium), Salzburgring (Austria) and Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) before the summer break. The season will conclude with two events in September in Brno (Czech Republic) and Valencia (Spain), the latter representing a great opportunity to prepare for the FIA Motor Sport Games which will take place four weeks later. In Spa, the TCR Europe will take place on the Saturday before the 25 hours of the Funcup.

The format remains the same, with two 30-minute free practices, the qualifying session split into Q1 and Q2, and two 55km races with the Race 2 grid based on qualifying results, with the top ten reversed.

In addition to the overall titles for drivers, teams and manufacturers, three trophies will be awarded: the Rookie Trophy, the Diamond Trophy for drivers over 36 and the Gen-1 Trophy for first-generation cars.
