Positive for Covid, Chris Buescher misses the Gateway round

Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing has announced Chris Buescher's withdrawal from this Sunday's Gateway round at World Wide Technology Raceway.

The Ford Mustang 17 will be driven by Zane Smith who will make his first start in the Cup Series on this occasion. A regular driver in the Camping World Truck Series this season, he has three victories and eight Top Tens for 10 starts this year and occupies second place in the championship.

At 22, Smith becomes the 24th driver in RFK history to compete in a Cup Series round.

Chris Buescher, currently 21st in the championship, remains in the running for a place in the Playoffs. He is expected to return to Sonoma on June 12 and has received, among other support, that of his boss/driver Brad Keselowski.
