The Argentinian won his second success on the Italian circuit of Monza. He took advantage of the penalty imposed on Mikel Azcona to get within 10 units of the Spaniard. The European title will be played in Barcelona from October 9 to 10.
They put it back. Franco Girolami (Honda Civic Type-R) and Mikel Azcona (Cupra Léon Competicion) engaged in another implacable battle on the fast Monza track. During 8 of the 10 laps of this second race, the two boys went blow for blow, ceding the lead position lap after lap. It is the championship leader who will make the mistake of the round. For having stuck a “stamp” a little too hard on Jimmy Clairet (Peugeot 308 TCR) and for not respecting the race limit, the race direction imposed a five-second penalty on Azcona. Even though he crossed the line in second place, the official Cupra driver was demoted to fifth position.
