In Hockenheim qualifying F3 contested in the wet, Tom Dillmann had set the 2nd fastest time behind Jules Bianchi. He didn't keep it for long: the officials first took away his best lap, in which he apparently overran a white border with all four wheels. This demotes him to 5th place.
Later that evening, he was disqualified. Explanations: in fact, to put its Dallara on the tuning slab, Team HBR used 10 liters of gasoline. But he forgets to add enough for the whole session. Dillmann leaves and sets the best time after 6 laps and the team calls him back to the pits, to wait for the track to dry out. Bianchi is the only one to beat his time and Tom returns to the track towards the end. But he feels his engine lift and returns. After the checks, the technical commissioners logically found a car right at the obligatory minimum weight, but lacking a few centimeters of regulatory gasoline, because it was almost out of fuel.
This is why the Alsatian will start from the last row tomorrow…
