Stefano Domenicali, president of the commission car to the FIA, would like the establishment of intermediate championships between the F4 series and the European Championship of F3, in particular so as not to lose certain young people en route who lack finances or who need more time before making the big leap into FIA F3.
“The suggestion currently on the table, which will be presented for approval by the World Motor Sport Council, is the establishment of F3 championships on a regional basis, starting already in 2017, comments the former Team Principal of the Team Ferrari.
In this way, pilots will be able to gain more experience and progress, while remaining on a course that is well defined and regulated. However, this should not make us lose sight of a vital element for both categories which is cost control: we are working on this point at the technical and sporting level. » Development towards other regions of the world cannot be ruled out.
